Dr. Erika Brandson grew up on a farm in Manitoba, which is where her love of animals began. From farm dogs, to cats, horses, guinea pigs, and rabbits,
she developed a passion to care for every creature great and small. Throughout her education she also developed an interest in science and medicine.
To her, the obvious combination of these two pursuits was a career in veterinary medicine.
After moving to Calgary, she completed a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and then her DVM, from the University of Calgary, graduating in 2019.
During her bachelor’s degree and between its completion and veterinary school, she worked at a small animal practice to further her experience in the veterinary field.
In the final year of her veterinary degree, she had many hands-on learning opportunities such as training in internal medicine, emergency medicine, dermatology,
rural mixed animal practice, small animal practice, as well as researching public and animal health concerns in Tanzania.
When she isn’t caring for animals, her hobbies include camping, hiking, and skiing. She currently has one cat, Toothless, who runs the house.
She is looking forward to welcoming more 4 legged friends into her home in the future!
Dr. Brandson is excited to start at Douglas Square Pet Clinic this May! She believes in offering the highest standard of medicine possible for each individual situation.
Communication and a shared understanding with clients, their pets, and the bond they share are key to making diagnostic and treatment plans that work for everyone.
She is interested in internal medicine and dermatology but is excited to grow her experience and knowledge as she becomes a part of the community of the Douglas Square Pet Clinic.
